Why the term "African-American" should be eliminated. There are many other voices who agree.
Black seems to be the operative word around here - in fact I am not sure I have ever heard one of my students refer to themselves as African-American.

I've long since agreed that the term "African American" should be eradicated. Go far back far enough and everyone is technically African American. It's just a matter if you want to go back six or so generations (our students) or 6,000 (?) or so generations (our program manager...hey, Ben!).
